Iran vows ‘no geographical limits’ to retaliation against US

Tehran: Iran has warned the United States that any fresh attack on the Islamic Republic would trigger an immediate military response without geographical restrictions, saying its armed forces are stronger than when the war began on February 28.

Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia issued the warning on Saturday, November 7, saying Tehran’s forces were prepared to target American military bases beyond the Middle East if Washington resumed strikes against Iran, according to AFP, citing Iranian state media.

“Today, the Islamic Republic’s armed forces… having gained experience from direct confrontation with the United States and the Israeli regime, are on higher alert and are stronger than they were at the beginning of the war. They now possess greater motivation, commitment, and self-confidence,” Akraminia said.

“Under the order of the Supreme Leader, the response of the armed forces will be immediate, effective, and without geographical limitations,” he added, referring to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Akraminia also said the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened only if the administration of US President Donald Trump accepted Iran’s seven conditions.

Separately, Iranian official Ibrahim Azizi warned Trump against further military action. In a post on X on Friday, November 6, he said the US would not be allowed to leave the region without paying a price or providing compensation.

“We will not allow Trump to escape the region without cost or compensation,” Azizi wrote.

“Our response to every misstep is a decisive blow to liberate the largest US military base – namely, the Zionist regime – once and for all,” he added.

اجازه نمی‌دهیم ترامپ بی هزینه و غرامت از منطقه فرار کند.

Iran says it downed US drone over Qeshm Island

The warnings came as Iranian state media reported two explosions in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, a strategic location near the Strait of Hormuz.

State broadcaster IRIB reported that Iran’s army had intercepted and destroyed an American MQ-9 drone over the island.

US President Donald Trump later confirmed that American forces had carried out limited strikes targeting an Iranian air defence system on Qeshm Island.

“We do minor strikes. They knocked out – they built a little bit of an anti-aircraft device, and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five,” Trump told reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida.

He also claimed that Washington had made considerable progress in negotiations with Tehran.

US-Iran diplomatic efforts continue

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Washington and Tehran are continuing despite the latest military developments.

US Vice President JD Vance has reportedly been personally involved in indirect negotiations over the past two weeks, with discussions focused on securing a new ceasefire and restarting nuclear talks, according to Axios.

Iran has reportedly expressed willingness to discuss its nuclear programme, a key sticking point in the negotiations.

A diplomat familiar with the discussions told Bloomberg that Tehran was examining proposals concerning its nuclear activities submitted by Qatar, which has been mediating between the two sides.
