Bijapur: Security forces have recovered more than 900 detonators and a large cache of materials used in explosives hidden by Maoists in the past in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said on Saturday, November 7.
Acting on intelligence provided by the 204th Battalion of the CRPF’s elite CoBRA unit, a joint team located the underground dump in a forest area near Pujarikanker village on Friday, a day after 711 BGL shells were seized in the district, a senior police official said.
Forces unearthed a substantial haul of components used in explosives and electronic devices, including 455 electric detonators, 500 non-electric detonators, two multimeters, two radio set battery charger cups, two copper prototyping boards (PCBs), a multi-USB port card reader, a mobile charger, a laptop adapter, a 12V FM/AM retractable power antenna, a telescopic antenna, and Naxal literature, the official said.
Security forces had on Thursday recovered 711 Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) shells hidden by Maoists near the Karregutta hills. The authorities have urged the public to refrain from visiting the area for the time being.
