Second chance for ASDD voters to join final voter list in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will once again reach out to electors, whose names could not be included in the draft electoral roll on account of being marked as Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD), to get their names included in the final electoral rolls.
Before the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls exercise commenced, Telangana had a total of 3,38,26,448 voters and 2,64,87,213 electors submitted enumeration forms. A staggering 73,39,235 electors were categorised as ASDD as they failed to submit enumeration forms.
To bring back these left-out voters into the final voter list, a booth-wise list of such electors, along with reasons for their exclusion, will be displayed at the respective polling stations and designated government offices. The list will also be uploaded on the Telangana CEO website ( https://ceotelangana.nic.in ).
Election officials will provide fresh enumeration forms to these ASDD electors. Voters who have not shifted residence can submit their filled-in enumeration form, along with a reason explaining why they could not submit the form earlier.
Electors who have shifted within the State need not file Form-8 for change of address but must submit the enumeration form, along with a statement mentioning their new address, assembly constituency, and address proof.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy, only those who fall under the ASDD category will be allowed to apply for inclusion of their names in the final voter list.
“We estimate that nearly 6 lakh voters under the ASDD category have already filed Form-6. We are anticipating another one lakh or two lakh voters to apply as ECI (Election Commission of India) has given them an opportunity. BLOs will contact the voters on their mobile numbers or visit the homes of ASDD voters,” he said.
As per the revised schedule, the notice phase and the process of disposing of claims and objections process, as part of the SIR exercise, will conclude on November 26. The final electoral rolls will be published on November 30.
