Hyderabad: Distressed over her husband’s alleged affair, a 30-year-old woman in Warangal killed her two daughters before dying by suicide on Saturday, November 7.

The woman was identified as Mamatha, a native of Bairanpalli village in Hanamkonda district. She was married to Eerelli Suman, a daily wage labourer. The couple lived in Elkurthi Haveli village.

They have two children, Harini, 4 and Kavya Shri, 3. Her husband reportedly had an affair with Mounika, a woman from the same village, and eloped with her 20 days ago.

The village panchayat decided that Suman should stay with his wife. The estranged couple were living at the home of relatives in Mughdumpuram for several days.

However, Suman abandoned his wife and children again and returned to Mounika.

A distressed Mamatha went back to her village with her children. But Mounika allegedly visited the house and rained abuses on her.

At around 10 am on Saturday, Mamatha reached the Pakala pond with her children. She shared her location with relatives in Hyderabad, telling them she was going to die

She tied her children to her waist and jumped into the pond.

Based on a complaint filed by her mother, Rajitha, the Khanapur Police registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 108 against Suman and Mounika. Suman was also booked under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for harassing his wife.

“We also booked Mamtha for murder under Section 103 (1) of the BNS for killing her daughters,” Khanapur Sub Inspector G Ram Mohan told Siasat.com.
