Hyderabad: City-based AIG Hospitals on Monday announced a collaboration with Boston Scientific India to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for minimally invasive gastrointestinal therapies, with a focus on training doctors across the country.

The three-year collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), will prioritise advanced endoscopy training for doctors across Indian cities, with the aim of bringing specialised gastrointestinal care closer to patients.

AIG Hospitals will host structured training programmes annually covering Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), cholangioscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoluminal surgeries.

Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, chairman and chief of gastroenterology at AIG Hospitals, said, “Our focus is to extend these opportunities to more doctors, particularly from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, so that advanced therapeutic endoscopy can progressively become accessible closer to where patients live.”

Brian Dunkin, MD, vice-president and chief medical officer for endoscopy at Boston Scientific, said, “Our collaboration with AIG Hospitals aims to bring together medical expertise and opportunities for knowledge-sharing and continued learning to support the advancement of endoscopic care.”

Senior officials from Boston Scientific and senior doctors from AIG Hospitals attended the announcement.
