Hyderabad: A five-year-old girl died after allegedly getting sick at the Tekulapalli Anganwadi centre in Khammam district, police said on Tuesday, October 27.

The parents of the deceased, Dhanyashree, staged a protest on the Tekulapalli Bridge Bypass Road on Tuesday, alleging negligence on the part of the Anganwadi centre.

Speaking to Siasat.com, an official from Khanapuram Haveli Police Station said that the parents had dropped the girl off at the centre on Monday morning, and a helper called them back an hour later, as the girl “had rashes” on her body.

She was initially shifted to a private hospital in Khammam and was later shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. She died later that night. An autopsy was conducted, and results are awaited to determine the cause of death, the official said.

A case has been registered under Section 194 (unnatural or suspicious deaths) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
