The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 gets 158 PS power, radar-based rider aids, semi-active suspension and a seat height as low as 790 mm

The new Tiger 1200 will arrive in India from March 2027 in GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants as its launch has been confirmed by Triumph. The new motorcycle receives a slew of mechanical and electronic revisions, and notably, both India-spec versions now run a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup. The GT Pro gets cast aluminium wheels and the Rally Explorer uses side-laced spoke wheels for better off-road suitability.

The Showa Eera Heightflex semi-active suspension is one of the more important updates. The system automatically drops the seat by 30 mm as the motorcycle stops and restores normal ride height after departure. A two-position seat provides another 20 mm of adjustment and the optional low seat reduces height by a further 20 mm. Consequently, stationary seat height can drop to 790 mm. Centre Stand Assist also temporarily raises rear preload to reduce the effort required to lift the motorcycle onto its stand.

The 1,200 cc T-Plane triple now develops 158 PS at 9,250 rpm – an increase of 8 PS over the previous version. Significantly, Triumph has concentrated on improved torque at lower engine speeds through a redesigned cylinder head, new pistons, lighter valves and revised camshaft profiles. Revised first, second and third gear ratios also lower crawl speed by 6 kmph. The six-speed gearbox and shaft drive receive changes intended to improve shift quality and low speed refinement.

The electronics move much further through new Bosch radar system at the front and rear. Adaptive Cruise Control, Group Ride Assist, Riding Distance Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Assist and Rear Distance Warning are part of the system. Additionally, Overtake Assist responds when the rider activates an indicator and Curve Speed Control can trim speed through longer corners. A six-axis IMU supports Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control.

The cockpit gets a Bosch 7-inch HD touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Navigation, music and messaging functions can be accessed through the display, switchgear or compatible voice assistants. Interestingly, Triumph has also created a waterproof phone compartment on top of the fuel tank. The compartment provides USB-C charging at up to 15W and has airflow passages plus an automatic cooling fan to manage phone temperature.

The GT Pro and Rally Explorer serve different touring priorities. The former has a 20-litre fuel tank and boasts a better road focus and the latter increases capacity to 30 litres. The Rally Explorer also gets Off-road Pro mode, additional engine protection, TPMS and handlebars positioned 10 mm higher and 10 mm wider. Both motorcycles have 200 mm suspension travel, Brembo Stylema brakes, heated rider and pillion seats and three-stage heated grips.

The design revisions centre on a reshaped fuel tank, radiator cowls, windscreen and beak. A new adaptive LED projector headlamp activates extra lighting elements at 15 and 30 degrees of lean, and an electric motor adjusts beam level as suspension height changes. The GT Pro colour choices are Sapphire Black and Aluminium Silver/Pacific Blue while the Rally Explorer is offered in Ash Grey/Sapphire Black and Matt Khaki Green.
