Bajaj Auto posts record Q2 FY27 revenue as exports, electric vehicles and commercial vehicles post appreciable gains

Bajaj Auto has reported another record quarter on profitability in Q2 FY27 as EBITDA crossed Rs. 4,000 crore and profit after tax moved past Rs. 3,000 crore. Both figures rose more than 35 per cent year-on-year. The EBITDA margin stood at 20.9 per cent and notably, currency realisation, operating leverage and cost controls helped absorb part of the pressure from input inflation during the quarter.

Exports delivered one of the biggest year-on-year gains across the business – rising more than 40 per cent despite intermittent logistics disruptions. Africa nearly doubled billing versus Q2 FY26 and moved past its earlier quarterly peak from FY21. In addition, Latin America also posted its best quarterly sales yet. Lending a helping hand, commercial vehicle exports crossed 1 lakh units which further lifted the overseas business during the period.

The premium motorcycle business also posted a record domestic revenue quarter. KTM and Triumph revenue climbed 45 per cent year-on-year as volumes crossed 40,000 units. The Austrian brand saw healthy sales across the Adventure and Duke families, and Triumph recorded further traction through its modern classic range despite supply shortages. The KTM and Triumph retail network now covers more than 110 towns.

The domestic business posted record quarterly revenue and rose 30 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Electric vehicles were particularly important as volumes moved close to 2 lakh units from 82,000 units in Q2 FY26 courtesy of the Chetak portfolio. The zero-emission portfolio consequently accounted for one-third of domestic revenue. Meanwhile, ICE products also posted year-on-year gains, and recent Pulsar N and NS launches helped the sports motorcycle segment improve sequential market share.

Commercial vehicles recorded new quarterly highs for both revenue and volumes with more than 1.60 lakh units sold. Electric three-wheeler volumes and revenue more than doubled year-on-year. Bajaj also expanded Riki to around 185 cities and the company says the model now leads the lithium-ion e-rickshaw category. Additional capacity is planned for the electric three-wheeler business.

Chetak delivered its biggest quarterly volume yet – more than doubling on a YoY basis. Revenue crossed Rs. 2,000 crore and profitability improved further during the quarter. Supply shortages restricted deliveries because available inventory stayed unusually lean. Production is now set to rise to support domestic and export requirements. The headline Q2 figure was revenue above Rs. 20,000 crore for the first time – up 34 per cent year-on-year and around double the quarterly level seen three years earlier. Bajaj is preparing to bring in a dual-sport offering and more Pulsar models in the near future.
