Info Edge’s Hitesh Oberoi to step down as MD and CEO; founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani to take over

Hitesh Oberoi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Info Edge, will step down from his full-time executive role on December 2, 2026, after nearly 27 years with the company, including more than 16 years as MD. The parent of Naukri.com announced the leadership change alongside its second-quarter FY27 results.
Sanjeev Bikhchandani, the founder of Info Edge, will take over as Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Group CEO from December 3, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The move will see Bikhchandani return to an active management role after serving as Executive Vice Chairman. According to the company's regulatory filing, his term will run until April 26, 2031.
Oberoi, however, will continue to be associated with the company. Subject to shareholder approval, he will remain on its board as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director. Info Edge said he had chosen to step back from his full-time executive role to devote more time to education, entrepreneurship, institution building, investing and philanthropy, while spending more time with his family.
In a statement, Oberoi said that after nearly 27 years, he felt it was the right time to begin transitioning out of his full-time operating role. He added that he would miss the colleagues and teams who had made those years special. Bikhchandani said the two had built Info Edge together over more than 27 years.
Oberoi's tenure spans much of Info Edge's growth. According to a report citing the company's filing, its market capitalisation increased from Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 80,000 crore during his tenure. Oberoi formally took over as CEO and MD in 2010, when Bikhchandani moved into the role of Executive Vice Chairman. The company said it has a strong institutional foundation, supported by senior leaders who have been with Info Edge for more than 20 years.
Investors will be watching how the leadership change affects Info Edge’s core recruitment business and broader strategy. The move comes after CFO Chintan Thakkar stepped down in November 2025, with co-promoter Ambarish Raghuvanshi taking over as interim CFO.
