Kiran Navgire has written herself into Women's Premier League history by becoming the very first player to be sold at the WPL 2027 auction. The Delhi Capitals Women secured her services for INR 75 lakh at the auction held in Kochi on October 28, 2026, with bidding commencing from her base price of INR 40 lakh.

Delhi Capitals moved decisively the moment Navgire's name was called, pushing her final price to INR 75 lakh and nearly doubling her base value in the process. The franchise ensured she was the opening transaction of the entire auction day, a distinction that places her name at the very top of the WPL 2027 auction record. Navgire had been released by UP Warriorz ahead of this auction cycle, which returned her to the open pool and made her available to all five franchises from her base price.

The WPL 2027 auction in Kochi brought together all five franchises, each arriving with vacant squad positions to fill across both Indian and overseas player categories. The event in the state of Keralam marked the formal start of squad-building for the upcoming season, and Navgire's sale to Delhi Capitals set a competitive tone for the remainder of the day's proceedings.

Why was Kiran Navgire available at the WPL 2027 auction?

Navgire entered the WPL 2027 auction pool after UP Warriorz opted to release her ahead of the event. That decision meant she was no longer contracted to any franchise and was therefore eligible for bidding from her base price of INR 40 lakh when the Kochi auction got under way on Wednesday, October 28.

Once her name appeared in the bidding order, DC wasted no time in staking their claim. The franchise outbid the competition from the Mumbai Indians to land Navgire at INR 75 lakh, making her not only their first acquisition of the auction but also the first confirmed sale across all five franchises on the day. She will now be looking to mark her dominance with the bat for the Jemimah Rodrigues-led side.
