Sexually abused live-in partner’s daughter, man gets 20-yr jail

Hyderabad: A special fast-track court at LB Nagar on Wednesday, October 28, sentenced a 25-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually harassing the minor daughter of his live-in partner and trying to assault her, the police said.

The Special Fast Track Court for Rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Cases also fined the convict, Jarpula Ganesh, Rs 32,000. It directed that Rs 1.5 lakh be paid to the girl as compensation.

Ganesh is a private employee from Maheshwaram mandal in Rangareddy district.

Threatened to post photos online

According to the prosecution, Ganesh had been living with the woman and her daughter. During that time, he sexually harassed the girl several times and warned her of dire consequences if she told anyone.

He also threatened to put out explicit photographs and videos of the mother and daughter on social media to keep them quiet, the police said.

On October 29, 2024, he took the two to a secluded spot in Mamidipally village and again tried to sexually assault the girl. He fled when the mother resisted and shouted for help.

Pahadishareef Police registered a case on the mother’s complaint on November 27, 2024.

The court found the charges proved beyond reasonable doubt and pronounced the sentence nearly two years after the case was registered.

The verdict comes a month after another Pahadishareef case ended in a conviction. In that case, a special court for child-related offences sentenced a madrasa teacher in Mamidipally to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy, and awarded the child Rs 2 lakh in compensation.
