Telangana DGP launches six CID digital initiatives to modernise policing

HYDERABAD: Director General of Police CV Anand on Wednesday launched six digital initiatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to modernise policing, improve investigations and make police services more transparent and efficient.
The initiatives include a Citizen Feedback Centre to collect public feedback on petitions, FIRs, e-Challan services and passport verification. He also launched Bharosa software, which connects all 35 Bharosa Centres through a unified digital case-management system to track survivors’ cases, counselling, medical and legal assistance, and rehabilitation.
The CID’s official website was also launched. Other initiatives include a Jail Release Monitoring System integrating prison records with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), enabling automated alerts and intelligence-based monitoring.
The Mobile Face Search application, backed by a database of over 9.8 lakh photographs, can provide facial-matching results in about 15 seconds, helping identify suspects, missing persons and unidentified bodies.
Anand also released five volumes of Standard Operating Procedures covering bodily offences, property offences, crimes against women and children, special and local laws, and other offences to improve investigation quality and conviction rates.
