Hyderabad: Police arrested a 25-year-old murder accused for allegedly threatening witnesses and pressuring them to give false evidence in court, besides threatening to kill their family members.

K Sharath Kumar was earlier arrested in connection with the murder of Krishna Goud, a resident of Parveda village in Rangareddy district. Based on the deceased’s mother’s complaint, the Chevella Police registered a first information report (FIR).

The 65-year-old mother, Naregudem Anjamma, accused her daughter-in-law Rajeshwari and Sharath Kumar of having an extramarital relationship and being behind her son’s murder.

They were arrested and eventually released on bail.

According to police, Sharath Kumar contacted the deceased’s brother, Srinivas Goud, posing as a defence lawyer. Over the course, he gathered information and began threatening him to give false evidence in the court to secure his acquittal.

When the family refused, the accused allegedly sent death threats through another mobile number.

Based on the complaint, Shankarpally Police registered a case under Sections 232(1) (threat), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 351(3) (aggravated criminal intimidation), read with Section 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sharath Kumar was arrested on October 26, produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
