Kothagudem: Police arrested four youths suspected of involvement in the murder of Medi Akhil (20) on October 19 within the limits of Laxmidevipalli police station in Kothagudem.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Kothagudem DSP L Adinarayana stated that, acting on credible information, Laxmidevipalli Sub-Inspector (SI) Akhila and her team nabbed the accused, Dantyala Ganesh, Siripuram Sathwik, Muddangula Venkatesh and Tarala Pradeep near Kothagudem bus stand.

According to the investigation, the main accused, Ganesh and Sathwik, harboured a grudge against Akhil due to past enmity and hatched a plan to kill him. As part of their plot, they lured Akhil to an open space near Edurugadda in Laxmidevipalli mandal on the pretext of having drinks together.

Ganesh allegedly stabbed Akhil multiple times in the neck with a knife and struck his face with a cement brick. Sathwik also allegedly assaulted him with a cement brick. The other suspects allegedly helped the main accused in the murder. Financial transactions for the purchase of liquor were carried out through PhonePe.

Police seized three mobile phones from the suspects and recovered other evidence related to the incident. A probe is underway into the involvement of other individuals, DSP Adinarayana stated.

The support provided by the technical team proved crucial in cracking the case, he added. CI Venkateswarlu, SI Akhila and other police personnel were present.
