Konda Surekha withdraws remarks against KTR, expresses regret

Hyderabad: Warangal East MLA and former minister Konda Surekha on Thursday, October 29, withdrew her remarks against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao and expressed regret, saying she did not mean to hurt him or his family.
In October 2024, Surekha had linked KTR to the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She had also made allegations about drug use and the blackmail of film personalities.
KTR and Nagarjuna (Naga Chaitanya’s father) had filed defamation cases against the Congress MLA. While Nagarjuna withdrew his in November 2025 after the minister apologised to his family, KTR’s case continued.
On December 11, 2025, a Nampally court issued a non-bailable warrant against Surekha after she failed to appear for the trial.
In her apology on Thursday, without mentioning the exact remarks, Surekha said her comments were made in the course of criticising the opposition without a deliberate intent to cause harm.
She acknowledged that she should have refrained from making “the baseless remarks” and expressed regret if she hurt him or his family.
“I would like to offer an explanation regarding some personal remarks I made in the past about BRS Working President @KTRBRS. Given the political circumstances at the time, I made those remarks in the course of criticising the opposition, rather than with any deliberate intent to cause harm,” she stated in her X post.
“I should have refrained from making some of the baseless remarks I made back then. I had absolutely no ill intention of hurting Mr KTR or his family members, or of damaging their reputation. If my remarks have hurt him or any of his family members, I sincerely regret it and hereby withdraw those remarks,” she added.

Court bars Congress MLCs from making remarks against KTR
This development comes as the Hyderabad City Civil Court on Wednesday, October 28, directed MLCs Balmoor Venkata and Addanki Dayakar not to make false allegations against KTR.
The court passed the interim orders in a Rs 10 crore defamation suit filed by the pink party leader.
KTR had challenged allegations related to drug use, promoting drug culture, and allegations about personal relationships with women, film personalities, and other prominent figures. He stated that disseminating such allegations through videos, interviews, and news reports without proper verification has damaged his reputation.
The court has also directed media organizations such as Mana Telugu TV, ABN Telugu, Vahini TV, and other related entities to remove videos and news reports already published related to the controversial allegations, BRS Party stated in their X post.
