Deadly torrential rains have battered Ecuador’s Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos archipelago, leaving one person dead, two missing and around 80 evacuated. Flooding has damaged roads, collapsed a house and disrupted airport operations on nearby Baltra Island. Authorities have declared a state of emergency, launched rescue operations and prepared humanitarian aid as the search for missing people continues.
