Indian gets death sentence in Kuwait over drugs in paper sheets

Kuwait City: An Indian national has been sentenced to death by Kuwait’s Criminal Court for attempting to smuggle psychotropic substances into the country concealed in 100 sheets of paper soaked with the drugs.
According to Arab Times, the accused allegedly hid the sheets inside a shipment of shoe cartons sent from abroad through an international parcel service. The smuggling attempt was foiled following cooperation between customs officials and the Anti-Narcotics Unit, leading to his arrest.
In a separate drug-related case, the court sentenced two Lebanese nationals to death for possessing and trafficking narcotic and psychotropic substances. They were arrested following a tip-off that prompted an investigation by anti-narcotics officers.
A search during the operation led to the seizure of two kilogrammes of marijuana, 400 grammes of hashish, half a kilogramme of synthetic cannabinoids and 6,000 Lyrica capsules. Authorities also recovered three precision scales and plastic bags allegedly used for packaging drugs.
