Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Monday, November 2, demolished the wall of a farmhouse linked to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Ch Malla Reddy, which was constructed on the full tank level of the Fox Sagar Lake.

The demolition was part of a larger operation to clear alleged encroachments within the lake’s FTL boundaries. The agency also removed compound walls, iron fencing and other structures at various locations around the lake as part of its efforts to reclaim the lake and take up restoration work.

The farmhouse related to the BRS MLA is located in Doolapally village. HYDRAA identified the encroachment in Survey No. 124, where the compound wall and an entrance gate had been constructed within the lake’s FTL limits.

According to the agency, approximately 15 acres of land falling within Fox Sagar’s FTL area had been brought within the farmhouse boundary through the construction of a compound wall.

“Soil had been dumped in the FTL and buffer zones to raise the ground level before the compound wall and gate were erected,” the agency said. Upon noticing the violation, HYDRAA demolished the wall and removed the gate.

The agency also demolished half a kilometre along the lake, stating that it was constructed on FTL. The demolition drive was also carried out in Survey numbers 41 and 42 in Jeedimetla, where HYDRAA removed a compound wall allegedly encroaching on nearly 20 acres of Fox Sagar’s FTL area.

During the drive, Supreme Court advocate Saurabh Raj Verma reportedly attempted to obstruct the demolition, claiming rights as the legal heir of his father, Deepak Verma, and paternal uncle, Prashant Verma.
