Multiple explosions reported across Iran’s southern coast

Tehran: Fresh explosions were reported early on Sunday, November 8, across several locations in southern Iran, amid escalating regional tensions.
Two blasts were heard on Qeshm Island, reportedly originating from its eastern side. Explosions were also reported in Bandar Abbas, Jask and Sirik, although local and provincial authorities had not provided details.
Iranian state television attributed the sounds to military exercises and operations by the country’s armed forces, rejecting reports of fresh US attacks. The explanation followed an announcement by the Iranian Army that it had shot down a drone over Qeshm Island.

Earlier US strike on Qeshm Island
The latest incidents came a day after US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had carried out what he described as a “minor strike” on Qeshm Island early on Saturday, November 7.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that two missiles had struck the island during the operation.
A similar limited US operation was reported on Monday. A US official told The Jerusalem Post that the strike was ordered after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) allegedly attempted to target an American aircraft with a missile launched from the island.
Iran warns Washington against further military action
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, warned that any new US military campaign would trigger a “devastating response”. He said the IRGC had updated its target bank and lifted restrictions on missile ranges.
Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Akrami Nia said the country’s armed forces were stronger and better prepared to confront threats. He warned that any response would be immediate and effective, without geographical limitations.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed to international navigation until Washington accepted Iran’s conditions.
Countries across the region had anticipated a possible resumption of US military action after Trump held off on further strikes in the weeks preceding Tuesday’s, November 3, midterm elections. Iran has repeatedly warned that renewed attacks would prompt retaliation against US and Israeli targets in neighbouring countries.
