Hyundai Bayon debuts today with 115 PS petrol power, Level 2 Pro ADAS, dual 12.3-inch screens and more than 80 safety features

Hyundai will launch the Bayon in India today and bookings are already open for Rs. 11,000 through authorised dealerships and the company’s official website. Its customer deliveries are scheduled for the festive season. The new SUV will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s domestic portfolio and safety is one of the Bayon’s biggest talking points.

The Korean manufacturer says more than 35 safety features are standard across the range and the total equipment count goes over 80. Six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, three-point seatbelts, rear parking sensors, a rollover sensor and an emergency stop signal are among the standard items. The structure contains 69 per cent advanced multi-grade high-strength steel and Hyundai says the Global K Enhanced Platform targets five-star Indian safety standards.

Top-spec versions of the Bayon get Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 driver assistance functions, three radars and 12 parking sensors. Navigation-based smart cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance and Safe Exit Warning are part of the suite. A Surround View Monitor, Blind-spot View Monitor, front parking sensors and all-wheel disc brakes are also available.

A naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder MPi petrol engine powers the Bayon. Output stands at 115 PS and 143.8 Nm, and transmission choices comprise a six-speed manual and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission. The iVT version gets Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes, paddle shifters, Dash Boost Mode for quicker overtaking response and Sporty Drive Tech. Hyundai has sold more than 6 lakh vehicles fitted with this engine in India since 2020.

The cabin centres around dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation. Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit runs on NVIDIA hardware, and the Bayon becomes the company’s first India model to get a generative AI voice assistant backed by Perplexity and SoundHound AI. More than 70 Bluelink connected functions are also available along with controller over-the-air updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers.

The interface supports English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Hinglish, and more than 500 embedded voice commands are present across those languages.

Hyundai will offer 10 exterior colour choices – monotone, dual-tone and matte finishes included. Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey make up the monotone selection. Atlas White and Fiery Red can be specified with a black roof and Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte are the other colour choices.
