Jeep Compass Sport gets nine-speed automatic gearbox, 170 HP diesel engine, six airbags and 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen

Jeep India has launched the Compass Sport 9AT at Rs. 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new derivative introduces the nine-speed automatic gearbox at Sport level for the first time and becomes the least expensive automatic Compass sold in India. Customer deliveries are scheduled to start during the second week of November 2026 through Jeep dealerships and Stellantis Brand Houses.

The chassis specification stays familiar. Frequency Selective Damping suspension is part of the Sport 9AT hardware, and Dynamic Steering Torque supports the steering system. The setup is unchanged from other Compass derivatives that employ the same technologies. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Sport 9AT, which keeps the drivetrain simpler than the four-wheel-drive versions available elsewhere in the Compass range.

Cabin equipment covers a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls and electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirrors. Safety and convenience equipment includes six airbags, cruise control and Auto Hold. The Sport 9AT therefore moves the automatic gearbox into the entry Compass grade without stripping away the main infotainment and safety equipment listed for this version.

Power comes from Jeep’s 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine. The four-cylinder unit develops 170 HP and 350 Nm and sends power to the front wheels through the nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine already serves other Compass derivatives, but its pairing with the automatic gearbox at Sport level is the main mechanical change introduced through this update.

Jeep also offers an optional accessory set priced at Rs. 29,900. It contains ambient cabin lighting, a dashcam equipped with predictive safety functions, Swoosh exterior decals, all-weather floor mats and mud flaps. The accessory set sits outside the standard Sport 9AT equipment list and can be selected separately by customers who want those items.

The wider Compass portfolio still covers manual and automatic gearbox choices, along with front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations depending on the derivative. The Sport 9AT now lowers the entry point for customers who specifically want the diesel engine and automatic transmission, without requiring a move to a more expensive Compass grade.

At Rs. 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Sport 9AT sits as the new automatic entry point in the Compass range. Deliveries begin in the second week of November, and the variant arrives with the same 170 HP diesel engine, FSD suspension and DST steering hardware already associated with the Compass, but at a lower automatic price point than before.
