Royal Enfield conservation programme encompasses more than 10,500 sq km of Himalayan snow leopard habitat across six regions
Royal Enfield has pledged more than Rs. 3 crore for snow leopard conservation across the Himalayas. The funding will support scientific research, population assessments, community stewardship and human and wildlife conflict mitigation across six regions. The commitment stems from One Ride 2026, held on September 20 under the theme “Every Rider. Every Road. One Mission.”
The Chennai-based manufacturer says 1,56,085 riders took part across 67 countries and this year’s event was dedicated to Himalayan conservation. More than 10,500 sq km of habitat across Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will come under the programme and it has been of the biggest magnitude.
Royal Enfield will work with the Nature Conservation Foundation, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust and the Centre for Pastoralism on field research, population assessment and community-led conservation work. In addition, a Snow Leopard Conservation Conclave is scheduled for December 2026 during the Journeying Across the Himalayas event.

The Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program and the Nature Conservation Foundation will also take part. The discussions will focus on Indian conservation policies, international standards and cooperation across national borders. The Ladakh Nature Centre at Saspotsey is another key part of this initiative.
Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council are partners in the project. The art-based interpretation centre will focus on Himalayan biodiversity and provide local residents and visitors with information on the region’s wildlife and ecological systems. Community stewardship will sit at the centre of the fieldwork as well.

Royal Enfield plans to support projects in settlements close to snow leopard habitats with conflict mitigation linked directly to scientific monitoring and population assessment. The approach is intended to connect conservation work with the people who live in these landscapes. The announcement comes during Royal Enfield’s 125th anniversary year and extends the company’s existing Himalayan conservation work.
The program now encompasses field research, community projects, the Ladakh Nature Centre and the December conclave under one conservation commitment.
