Delhi Showdown: INDIA Alliance Set for Major Rally Against SIR

The INDIA alliance is set to hold a major rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. More than 20 opposition parties are expected to participate, with Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee among the leaders scheduled to address the gathering. The Congress has claimed that around 10 lakh people will join the rally. Before the event, MPs and opposition leaders are expected to assemble at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, travel by bus to Minto Bridge and then march on foot to Ramlila Maidan. A day ahead of the rally, the Opposition organised a mock Parliament at Kharge’s residence, calling it Jan Mahabhiyog. During the event, opposition parties raised objections over alleged vote theft and the SIR exercise. They also passed a mock impeachment resolution against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The rally marks a coordinated opposition campaign against the electoral roll revision process and the Chief Election Commissioner.
