The European-spec TVS Orbiter gets two battery choices as the Indian model but boasts removable battery tech

TVS Motor has unveiled the European-spec Orbiter at EICMA 2026 alongside the M1-S and TVS X electric scooters. The Orbiter is positioned as the practical model of the three and is intended mainly for city commutes and short trips. European type approval is planned for 2027 while market specific prices and sales dates will be announced closer to launch.

The TVS Orbiter uses a tubular steel frame, telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers as most of the mechanical bits are similar to the Indian model. A 14-inch alloy wheel sits at the front on a 90/80 tyre while the 12-inch rear wheel uses a 90/90 tyre. Braking duties are handled by a 220 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum supported by CBS.

The riding position is upright and is complemented by a wide handlebar and a long flat seat placed 760 mm from the ground. The Orbiter also provides 34 litres of storage beneath the seat. Overall length stands at 1,855 mm, width measures 728 mm and wheelbase is 1,330 mm. It comes with LED lighting at the front alongside LED indicators and an LED tail lamp.

Specification TVS Orbiter Battery Options 1.8 kWh / 3.1 kWh Expected WMTC Range 70 km / 105 km Rated Motor Output 1.85 kW Peak Motor Output 2.9 kW Top Speed 45 km/h Charger 550 W 0-80% Charging Time 2 hr 39 min / 4 hr 33 min Front Wheel 14-inch alloy Rear Wheel 12-inch Front Brake 220 mm disc Rear Brake 130 mm drum Seat Height 760 mm Under-Seat Storage 34 litres Display 5-inch LCD Connectivity Bluetooth, LTE

The smaller 1.8 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery has an expected WMTC range of 70 km. Meanwhile, the 3.1 kWh version raises the figure to 105 km. A BLDC hub motor develops 1.85 kW of rated output and 2.9 kW at peak while top speed is rated at 45 kmph. Both battery versions are removable and is the key distinction compared to the model sold in India.

The electronics suite consists of Hill Hold, Cruise Mode and Reverse Assist. A 5-inch LCD instrument console links to the TVS SmartXonnect app via Bluetooth. In addition, onboard LTE supports geofencing, crash alerts, fall alerts and live vehicle tracking. The smartphone app also provides turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts and Distance to Empty information.

Charging is handled by a 550 W system and can be carried out from a household socket. The 1.8 kWh battery takes 2 hours 39 minutes to charge from zero to 80 per cent while the 3.1 kWh battery needs 4 hours 33 minutes for the same charge level. TVS will also offer an optional dock for charging the removable battery away from the scooter.

TVS developed, engineered and manufactures the Orbiter in India. The company says the scooter has completed 600 safety and structural stress tests with data collected over millions of kilometres of riding. The European debut precedes its planned type approval next year and visitors at EICMA can see the Orbiter between November 5 and 8 at the TVS Motor stand in Milan.
