NMC makes online portal mandatory for all statutory appeals

Hyderabad: In a push toward complete digitisation, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has reiterated that all statutory appeals by medical colleges, institutions, and Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) must be filed exclusively through its dedicated Online Appeal Portal.

Under directives issued by NMC Secretary Dr Raghav Langer, traditional offline channels, including physical submissions and email filings, have been completely discontinued.

For institutional matters, medical colleges must submit appeals via [https://application.nmc.org.in/login], with a standardised fee of Rs 50,000 plus applicable GST payable via online gateways, NEFT, or RTGS.

For practitioners, RMPs file ethics and registration appeals through [https://application.nmc.org.in/appeal]. Under Section 30(3), RMPs aggrieved by a State Medical Council decision can file a First Appeal before the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) within 60 days for Rs 500 plus 18 per cent GST (total Rs 590).

To challenge an EMRB decision before the full Commission under Section 30(4), a second appeal can be filed within 60 days for Rs 5,000 plus 18 percent GST (total Rs 5,900), accompanied by a prescribed affidavit.

Practitioners whose initial appeals were handled offline can still initiate second appeals digitally using the portal’s manual-import option.

Due to frequent rejection of past appeals on technical grounds because of missing documentation or incorrect statutory provisions, the NMC has advised all appellants to review user manuals, ensure uploaded PDF documents are legible, and strictly adhere to statutory timelines.
