The Deus Ex Machina collaboration starts from a one-off Shotgun 650 custom and leads to a global production run of just 100 units next year

Royal Enfield has partnered Deus Ex Machina for a new Shotgun 650 project called ‘Son of a Gun’. The collaboration begins from a one-off custom motorcycle and will lead to a limited production run of just 100 units globally next year. Each motorcycle will also come equipped with a Royal Enfield x Deus souvenir jacket created specifically for the project.

The one-off custom takes a much more stripped back route than the standard Shotgun 650. It gains a solo brown leather seat, shortened tail, exposed rear wheel and a lean rear section. The motorcycle also uses large alloy wheels, low handlebars, a compact headlamp cowl and a long metal exhaust system that sweeps rearward from the engine.

The custom paint scheme uses deep red bodywork, cream detailing and gold accents. Royal Enfield and Deus scripts occupy the tank panels while the close-up image reveals a “1 of 1” marking on the custom build itself. The fuel cap carries “Deus Ex Machina” and “Custom by Jeremy Tagand” lettering. Piano black engine covers continue the darker treatment around.

The limited production run motorcycles draw inspiration from that custom but retain more of the standard Shotgun 650’s silhouette. You could also a fuller rear mudguard, pillion-ready seat and familiar production bodywork beside the lower and stripped custom machine. The same deep red theme carries over joined by contrasting graphics and Deus branding on the tank and side panels.

Power comes from Royal Enfield’s established 650 Twin engine. Every one of the 100 production motorcycles will be offered with a limited Royal Enfield x Deus stone-washed sateen souvenir jacket. Heritage-style typography is used on the jacket and the inner lining mirrors the motorcycle paint treatment.

Royal Enfield used EICMA to place the Shotgun 650 custom beside a much larger set of motorcycles and future products including the flagship adv, Himalayan 750, which will go on sale in India later this month and the Continental GT 750. The latter will be introduced in two variants and as many wheel configurations upon arrival next year.
