Top 20 Most Sold Cars In H1 FY27 – Dzire On Top & SUVs Dominate

Maruti Suzuki Dzire led H1 FY27 sales at 1.26 lakh units while Tata Punch finished second; nine SUVs secured places inside the top 20

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire finished the first half of FY27 as the best selling car in the country with 1,25,988 units ahead of Tata Punch at 1,23,287 units. The gap between the two stood at just 2,701 units as it will go down to the wire by the end of this fiscal. The Dzire’s sales rose 16.65 per cent from 1,08,006 units in H1 FY26 and Punch posted a far larger 67.84 per cent increase from 73,455 units.

Six more models crossed the one lakh mark during the April to September period. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR secured third position with 1,16,029 units – up 36.60 per cent on a year-on-year basis. The Ertiga took fourth at 1,12,557 units after a 20.75 per cent rise and Tata Nexon completed the top five at 1,11,919 units – up 24.97 per cent from the corresponding period last year.

The pack of popular SUVs occupied nine positions inside the top 20. The Tata Nexon ranked fifth while Maruti Suzuki Fronx came in at sixth and the Mahindra Scorpio range ranked ninth. The Hyundai Creta finished tenth which was followed by Hyundai Venue in 14th, Kia Seltos in 15th, Kia Sonet in 17th, Mahindra XUV 7XO in 18th and XUV 3XO in 19th.

Despite the large SUV representation, a sedan, hatchback and MPV occupied three of the first four places. Maruti Suzuki placed eight nameplates inside the top 16 alone as Fronx recorded 1,10,135 units and registered 43.40 per cent growth over H1 FY26. The Swift reached 1,09,332 units – up 29.97 per cent – and Baleno took eighth position with 1,08,569 units after a 50.81 per cent increase.

The Eeco ranked 12th with 73,454 units and Alto secured 16th at 62,381 units. The most noticeable percentage gains came lower down the order. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris climbed to 72,012 units from 4,282 units with a 1,581.74 per cent year-on-year increase. The Kia Seltos nearly doubled its tally to 67,667 units – up 99.28 per cent.

The Alto advanced 92.03 per cent while the higher placed Tata Punch rose 67.84 per cent and the Baleno grew 50.81 per cent. Only two models inside the top 20 posted lower sales than H1 FY26 as the Hyundai Creta slipped 9.68 per cent to 89,727 units from 99,345 units and ranked tenth. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza finished 11th at 80,516 units – down 5.17 per cent from 84,902 units.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO and XUV 3XO recorded 53,081 units and 52,851 units respectively. Their year-on-year gains stood at 28.78 per cent and 19.03 per cent. The Kia Sonet reached 56,929 units – up 20.69 per cent. The Bolero MUV occupied 20th position place with 51,720 units and a 29.97 per cent increase.
